Dr. Raymond P. Scattone is a Senior Lecturer and the Undergraduate Program Director in the Department of Earth & Environment at Florida International University. He received his BA degree in political science and economics from the University of Delaware in 1992, an MA Degree in Policy Studies from Johns Hopkins University in 1994, and his Doctorate in Urban Affairs and Public Policy from the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy at the University of Delaware in 2002. He has developed and taught classes in environmental, energy, and climate change policy. His research interests include those areas as well as sustainable development policy (how different levels of government approach the issue of sustainability) and policies to encourage energy conservation (getting people to use less energy). In the future, he will be taking time off from his teaching position to return to his alma mater and help CEEP in diffusing the Sustainable Energy Utility Model. Dr. Scattone believes that in order for sustainability to be achieved everyone must take individual responsibility for their energy and environmental decisions and they must be willing to change their lifestyles.
