
Senior Research Fellow
Dr. William Latham is the Senior Economist of the Foundation. Dr. Latham retired in 2018 as Director of the Center for Applied Business & Economic Research and Associate Professor of Economics in the Lerner College of Business, at the University of Delaware. He has had visiting professor appointments at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul, Korea, the University of Paris, the University of Lyon, the Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland, Xiamen University in China, the University of the Antilles and Guyana, a University of Iowa program in Italy, and at Clemson University.
Dr. Latham served on the first Governor’s Economic and Financial Advisory Committee for the State of Delaware. Latham’s books include The Economics of Persistent Innovation: An Evolutionary View and Locational Behavior in Manufacturing Industries. His work has appeared in the Electricity Journal, Journal of Energy and Development, Journal of Regional Science, Southern Economic Journal, Review of Regional Studies, Economics of Innovation and New Technology, and Public Utilities Fortnightly. Dr. Latham was Editor of The Review of Regional Studies and serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Economic Research. He has served as a subject expert reviewer for proposals submitted to the National Science Foundation. He has directed many applied research projects for governments, nonprofit organizations and private enterprises. Professor Latham received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Florida and his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois.
