Mr. Allen is the President and Founder of Sustainable Capital Advisors where he develops renewable energy and energy efficiency financing solutions for clients domestically and internationally. Sustainable Capital Advisors was founded to provide public and private organizations with consulting and advisory services based on practical experience with the capital and clean energy markets.
Currently, Mr. Allen is working with a national non-profit organization to design a clean energy financing platform for the institutional sector and a biomass developer to design a project finance structure to attract capital for bio-energy and bio-jetfuel projects.
Prior to founding Sustainable Capital Advisors, Mr. Allen was a Director at Citi where he led efforts to finance municipal clean energy projects, particularly energy efficiency. In that capacity, Mr. Allen served as the sole underwriter for the Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility’s inaugural Energy Efficiency Revenue Bond financing. In addition to his clean energy experience, Mr. Allen has financed over $17 billion in tax-exempt and taxable bonds, primarily for municipal electric utilities. In addition, Mr. Allen served as the Head of the Quantitative Strategies Group for Public Financial Management, the nation’s leading financial advisory firm.
Mr. Allen is widely regarded as a thought leader in the financing of clean energy projects and has served on numerous advisory boards including an appointment to the Green Jobs/Green NY Advisory Board and the Finance Solution Working Group for the US DOE’s State and Local Energy Efficiency Action Network. Mr. Allen is a graduate of Harvard College where he majored in chemistry.
