Senior Research Fellow
Dr. Helen Bowers retired in 2019 as Associate Professor of Finance in the Lerner College of Business, at the University of Delaware. She had recently served Chair of the Department of Finance and was previously Associate Dean of the College.
Dr. Bowers’ areas of research and teaching are corporate finance and valuation and, more recently, specifically in capital markets and project finance for renewable energy investments. Dr. Bowers is a member of the Visiting Faculty at the Université de Paris1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris, France where she teaches Innovation in Energy Finance. Dr. Bowers has consulted and been an expert witness in corporate valuation. She is a senior advisor for the Woodward Group, a merchant bank and consulting practice.
Dr. Bowers research is published in Economics Research International, Northwestern University Law Review, Issues in International Corporate Control and Governance, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Journal of Risk and Insurance, Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Finance Financial Management, Financial Review, Business Lawyer and Employee Benefit Plan Review. She has had visiting professor appointments at the University of Iowa’s CIMBA program in Paderno del Grappa, Italy, Xiamen University in China, University of Lyon, and the Catholic University of Lyon in France, and Hanken, The Swedish School of Economics in Helsinki, Finland. She designed a joint executive education program with Astra Zeneca, Warwick University in the U.K., and the University of Delaware. Dr. Bowers has led study abroad programs in Australia, New Zealand, and London. Dr. Bowers received her B.S. degree from LaSalle University and her Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.
