Senior Research Fellow
Dr. Jong Dall KIM retired as Professor of the School of Economics and Trade of Kyungpook National University and as Director of the Research Institute for Energy, Environment and Economy in 2021. He is currently teaching at Ulsan National University of Science and Technology and Yeoung Nam University. He has an appointment with the Foundation for Energy and Environment as a Senior Research Fellow.
Dr. Kim is the co-founder and co-executive director of the Joint Institute for a Sustainable Energy and Environmental Future, an innovative research and policy advocacy organization for East Asia. He has served as the President and a founding member of the International Solar Cities Initiative(ISCI) – a pioneering program to assist cities around the world in building sustainable futures. Dr. Kim has served as Director of Daegu Solar City Center since 2004. and organized the first Solar Cities Congress of ISCI in Daegu City. As a president, he helped the consecutive ISCI congress of Oxford(UK), Adelaide (Australia), Dezhou (China) and Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Throughout his career, Dr. Kim has been an active international scholar holding appointments as a visiting professor or senior researcher at the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy (CEEP) University of Delaware (USA), Seoul National University, Chung-Ang University, Kookmin University, Korea Energy Economics Institute, Kyoto University(Japan), the Chinese Academy of Social Science, and The Energy Research Institute (India).
Dr. Kim served on the Republic of Korea’s Presidential Committee for Sustainable Development and recently served as a member of the Committee to Review Spent Nuclear Fuel Disposal Policy for Korea’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy.
His teaching and research areas are energy and environmental economics and sustainable development. He has published over 10 books and 100 research articles on issues of energy, global climate change and sustainable development.
